Electrical Wiring Interconnection System (EWIS)

Purpose: The purpose of this course is to provide minimum initial theory training on EWIS to enable personnel who perform wiring systems maintenance to improve the airworthiness code for large aeroplanes and the requirements for continued airworthiness in the field of electrical wiring interconnection systems since failures in those systems have been identified as causal factors in several incidents and accidents involving large aeroplanes.

Personnel is to be made aware that wiring and connections are to be maintained to the same level as other systems, as per EASA AMC 20-22 after Annex III to ED Decision 2008/007/R of 29/08/2008.
Delivery Method: Online Course
Certification: EASA/GCAA or Combination of EASA & GCAA
Course Duration: Approximately 13 hours depending on group category
Group Categories:

[1] Qualified staff performing EWIS maintenance (B2)
[2] Qualified staff performing EWIS maintenance (B1)
[3] Qualified staff performing electrical/avionic engineering on in-service aeroplanes
[4] Qualified staff performing general maintenance/inspections not involving wire maintenance
[5] Qualified staff performing other engineering or planning work on in-service aeroplanes
[6] Other service staff with duties in proximity to electrical wiring interconnection systems
[7] Flight Deck Crew
[8] Cabin Crew
